Peter T. Serafin has left in his will 2.3 million dollars to the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut to give scholarships to residents of Putnam, Thompson, Woodstock and Pomfret who want to go into nursing.

The scholarships are in honor of Peter’s wife, Shirley E. Serafin, who became a nurse in 1950.  Shirley got her nursing degree from New England Deaconess Hospital and Simmons College in Boston.

Peter T. Serafin was a Korean war veteran.
